Booking & Availability

The cruise includes six nights on board plus the following;

  • All meals prepared by the onboard chef
  • An open bar with a selection of wines, beers, spirits, and soft drinks
  • Guided excursions and entrance fees as outlined in the itinerary
  • Use of barge facilities including bicycles
  • The services of the captain, chef, and crew
  • Local transfers to and from the nearest train station 

Yes. Nymphea can be booked for private charter, offering a more personal experience for families, friends, or small groups. When chartered privately, elements of the itinerary and daily schedule can be adapted to suit your interests.

A shared cruise is a nice way to meet like-minded travellers.

On a shared cruise, you travel with a small number of other guests, each with their own private cabin. When booking, you simply choose the cabin you’d like to reserve.

 Nymphea accommodates a maximum of six guests. This allows for a relaxed atmosphere and a shared experience that never feels crowded.

Getting There & Departures

Access from Paris is easy. The train between Paris Montparnasse and Rennes takes only around 90 minutes. You will be met by the ship’s minibus for a 60 minute transfer. Transfers between the train station and the barge are included and arranged for you.

Comfort and Practicalities

Cabins are comfortable, well-designed, practical and fitted with wood panelling. Each has an en suite bathroom, air conditioning and storage space. The emphasis is on calm, privacy, and a good night’s sleep after a day on the water.

Yes, there are six bicycles available for your use. 

Days are gently paced and varied. Mornings often begin with cruising, passing quietly through the countryside and villages. You’re welcome to relax on board, or take one of the bicycles to follow the towpath at your own pace.

Most afternoons include an excursion or time ashore, and in the evenings we moor in or near a village, giving you the opportunity to explore on foot or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings on board.

Wi-Fi is available, though connectivity can be limited in more rural stretches of the waterways. Many guests enjoy the opportunity to disconnect occasionally.

Yes, the barge has a 220 v electrical supply, there are French 2 pin plugs throughout. You may need to bring a converter for the plug or transformer for the power supply.

Access on and off the barge and during excursions may involve steps and uneven surfaces. Please contact us to discuss your individual needs so we can advise appropriately.


Comfortable, casual clothing is recommended, along with good walking shoes and a light waterproof layer. Evenings on board are relaxed, and there is no formal dress code. One evening includes dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant, where guests may wish to dress a little more smartly, while still keeping comfort in mind.


Dining & Drinks

The cuisine on board is French. Meals focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. A selection of regional cheeses and French wines are featured with lunch and evening meals. The evening meal is typically a four course menu. 

Yes. Dietary requirements can usually be accommodated with advance notice. Please let us know at the time of booking so the chef can plan accordingly.

Yes. Wines are served throughout the cruise and included in the price, alongside a selection of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Yes. Special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or quiet celebrations can be marked on board. With advance notice, we’re happy to make simple arrangements.

Deposits and Payment

We accept payment by bank transfer (wire transfer in the US). After we confirm availability for your requested dates, we’ll email you a booking confirmation along with our payment details and instructions.

Your bank will guide you through the process. International transfers are very common for travel bookings.

No. To secure your booking, we first request a deposit. The remaining balance is due later, in line with our Terms and Conditions.

Exact amounts and due dates will be clearly stated in your confirmation email.

Yes. Bank transfers are a secure and widely used payment method for travel bookings. For your security:

  • We will only send payment details by email from our official address
  • We will never change our bank details during the booking process
  • We will never request payment via messaging apps or social media

If you ever receive a message that seems unclear or unexpected, please contact us directly before making any payment.

At this time, we normally accept payment by bank transfer (wire transfer).
